The maritime transport and logistics sector accounts for 80 percent of international traffic involving goods in terms of volume. The slowdown in international trade flows following the global financial crisis, and the disruptions in global value chains (GVCs) brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine war, have raised awareness about the need to create new infrastructure models in this sector.
