The Peace Report 2022 is entitled “Friedensfähig in Kriegszeiten” (Capable of Peace in Times of War). It sets out the conditions for the success of sanctions, describes the crisis of the global nuclear order and makes recommendations for Germany’s new National Security Strategy.
Beyond that, the Peace Report 2022 addresses conflict dynamics worldwide. It explains why violent jihadist actors, as well as violence and discrimination against women and LGBTQI* minorities require new approaches to peace policy.
Finally, the report argues for democratic checks on security institutions. It thus responds to the expanded competencies of national security institutions in democracies in the face of terrorist threats, the pandemic and extremism.
