SYRIA: The Syrian regime, Russia, and Iran are re-consolidating control over eastern Homs Province in order to buffer core regime-held terrain in western Syria. Pro-regime forces, Russia, and Lebanese Hezbollah seized Palmyra from ISIS on 02 MAR after the jihadist group withdrew from the area. Pro-regime forces nonetheless remain unable to reconquer all of Syria despite considerable support from Russia and Iran.
