Poor security and neglect mean that local sites risk being lost forever.Officials in the eastern Afghan province of Badghis are warning that priceless archaeological treasures face destruction without urgent steps being taken to preserve them.
Locals say that the scenery and archaeological treasures of the north-western province could match those of Bamiyan, a famous site for domestic and even international tourism.
