This chapter examines athletes’ public responses to the war in Ukraine. It discusses these athletes taking a stand within the context of the role and limits of athletes’ agency. The emerging international debate about athletes’ freedom of expression is highlighted, especially with respect to the Olympic Games and international tennis events.
