The Ukrainian government has a prerogative right to develop a mechanism of control over its border with Russia.
Deputy Chief Monitor of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine (OSCE SMM) Alexander Hug said this at a press conference in Kyiv on Friday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“This is a prerogative right of the government of Ukraine to design its border control mechanisms,” he said, when asked how the OSCE SMM sees Ukraine might secure its with Russia.
According to the Hug, the OSCE can only observe these efforts.
In addition, he noted that, according to the Minsk agreements, OSCE SMM patrols monitor the section of the border that is temporarily controlled by militants.
