In recent parliamentary election backing for billionaire President Petro Poroshenko’s party and the Popular Front of his Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk tops 40 percent, while the Regions Party of deposed leader Viktor Yanukovych wasn’t running. Poroshenko wants to build a coalition with other pro-European parties, the Bloomberg writes.
“We’re likely to see a fairly stable majority” in an alliance led by Poroshenko’s bloc, said Yuriy Yakymenko, Deputy Director General, Director of Political and Legal Programmes of the Razumkov Centre, which has tracked Ukrainian elections for two decades. “Lawmakers will unite behind plans for Ukraine’s future accession to the European Union.” …read more
