At an April prize ceremony in Moscow organized by Memorial, a human rights group that exposes Stalin-era repression, one of Russia’s most prominent writers was attacked. Assailants threw bright green antiseptic and hurled eggs into the face of 73-year-old Lyudmila Ulitskaya. Life in today’s Russia is simply like this for the Kremlin’s critics.
