On 17 January, the leaders of Russia and Iran, Vladimir Putin and Masoud Pezeshkian, signed an interstate treaty in Moscow, replacing an agreement from 2001. The document is primarily intended to reflect the evolving nature of relations between the two countries, which have drawn significantly closer over the past decade, particularly following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
