On 18 April, the authorities and the highest command of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported that a Russian offensive, which President Volodymyr Zelensky described as the Battle for Donbas, began in the morning hours in the east of the country. The fighting is taking place mainly in the Slobozhansky and Donetsk directions, with the aggressor also conducting missile and air strikes on military and civilian targets in other areas of the country.
